Utrecht has a silver and goldsmith tradition dating back to the Middle Ages: Domplein and the surrounding streets housed artisan workshops as early as the thirteenth century, and the city long had its own assay office with its own city hallmark. Around Choorstraat, Springweg and Oudegracht, you can still find a handful of jewellers and antique dealers today who distinguish themselves with period pieces, vintage rings and solid workshop craftsmanship.
This guide includes established addresses in Utrecht's city centre. Expect small, personal businesses with their own selection — some with limited opening days, which makes a visit calmer and more focused.
