Guides on vintage and antique jewellery age at different speeds. A hallmark reference from 1906 rarely changes; a market-price indication does. We update the site on a fixed rhythm so readers know how fresh a page is.
Review cycles
- Every six months — market indications, value guides, address entries, opening hours and links to shops, museums and assay offices.
- Every twelve months — hallmark and maker's-mark guides, style guides, motif guides and gemstone guides. Any changed period boundary, new source or corrected attribution is worked in.
- On event — when a museum reorganises a collection, when a hallmark register changes, when a new peer-reviewed reference work appears, or when a correction (see corrections policy) affects a related page, we update immediately rather than waiting for the cycle.
How you can see the state of a page
Every guide shows a byline with the last review date. That date only advances after an editor has re-read the page end-to-end and the subject-matter reviewer has re-approved it. A silent typo fix does not move the date.
What we retire
Pages we no longer wish to maintain — because the subject is out of scope or the sourcing has become too thin — are either merged into a broader guide with a redirect, or archived with a visible note. We do not delete published URLs silently.
